Percentage Calculation
The free Percentage Calculator solves common percentage questions without requiring you to rearrange a formula. Choose the calculation type, enter the known values and review the result.
Find a Percentage of a Number
To find B percent of A, use A × B / 100. For example, 25% of 200 is 50.
Find What Percentage One Number Is of Another
Use A / B × 100. If 30 out of 150 items meet a condition, the proportion is 20%.
Calculate Percentage Change
Use (new value − original value) / original value × 100. A positive result is an increase and a negative result is a decrease. Moving from 100 to 125 is a 25% increase; moving from 125 to 100 is a 20% decrease because the starting values differ.
Add or Subtract a Percentage
To increase a value by B percent, multiply it by 1 + B / 100. To decrease it, multiply by 1 − B / 100. These formulas are useful for price changes, budgets and growth comparisons.
Percentage Points vs. Percent Change
If a rate moves from 10% to 12%, it rises by 2 percentage points but increases by 20% relative to its original level. State which comparison you mean to avoid misleading results.
Rounding
The displayed value may be rounded for readability. Use the unrounded result when later calculations require higher precision.
